West Side Story series

While reading a biography on Leonard Bernstein, I was struck by his quote, “Music sculpts sound out of time.” During that same time while I was driving, I heard West Side Story played on public radio.
 

West Side Story series:

I questioned, “Can I create a series based on this musical?” Yes. I listened to each song repeatedly, initially writing down words that described each piece, then, choosing colors. I generated ideas stemming from my descriptions. I have not yet developed paintings for all of the songs.
